The plan this morning was to wake up, get on skype, and see the cutest baby I know. Hudson, of course! But, my internet decided not to work so I had to eventually give up on that idea. Boo.
However, as I went down for church I had the best greeting. Some of the kids from the clinic were playing with a small little toy basketball hoop, and they all said, "Good morning, coach!" So funny! One day of volleyball where I barely taught them anything, and they call me Coach. I heard that name a couple more times throughout the day from them, too.
Church was good. Last week was a guest speaker that had brought a team of workers from America, but this week was the normal pastor. He had his bullet points on a projector in English and would basically talk in English anytime he introduced a new bullet point, but spoke in Tagalog for most of the elaboration. I might make it part of my own Bible time to go back and reread the passages he wrote down and think about his points, because it's a little hard to keep my mind focused in church when I don't understand what he's saying. However, an Agape teacher sang at church this morning and it was AMAZING.
After church, Lauren and I went up to the main road. She was mostly the one that needed to do some shopping and I thought I'd tag along, but I'm glad I went because we stopped at some little shops (if you can call it that. It's mostly stuff stacked up on shelves in little hole in the wall type places on the side of the road.) and I was able to get a laundry basket and a converter. I've been having to go downstairs to charge my computer because there are, thankfully, three prong outlets down there, but none in my room. It's been inconvenient at times, but I will no longer be bothered by that!
I ate my PB&J when I got back and then a few of us went to Clod's house to play Monopoly Deal (a card game) and Cranium, which was a lot of fun. After that, as we headed home, we stopped to watch some kids play basketball for a while. Then, as we returned to the beach, Clod had ended up there and got a game of Ultimate Frisbee going! It was exhausting but so so fun! We probably played for about an hour, and then Lauren, Anderson, and I went to eat.
It probably seems like I've been on vacation more than anything, and you know what? Two more days of not doing a whole lot is about to happen. I will be helping organize things at the school in the morning, and I need to ask if there will be any feeding sites, but I won't actually be teaching because there is no school. I promise, though, once I'm full-on teaching in the classroom next Monday and I have my feeding sites figured out, along with probably doing more volleyball clinics, I might be begging for days off! I think it was a blessing to get here when I did so I could really get used to the island and ease my way into things.
We gave these little guys a bit more of an audience for a while!
He and his friends like to wake me up in the morning. Chickens, roosters, dogs (lots), cats, goats... just roam about freely.
Ultimate Frisbee is so so fun!
One of my dream place to visit is boracay. How I wish to visit this place soon as much as possible. I want to experience all the wonderful things that boracay has to offer like scuba diving, wakeborading, playing frisbee ant etc. Big thanks for sharing this with us.
