Church day! I woke up this morning and ate at the Barn, then Lauren, Elizabeth, Carla, Olivia and I went to Surfside restaurant and I had juice. From there we headed to church. It's in an open building, kind of like where we did the Ati feeding.
Whoa, side note, I'm typing this downstairs and am hearing a lizard talking REALLY loud. I guess that's what it is, anyway.
Okay, so church. Open building. So a concrete ground and ceiling and some walls, but with open window areas. The worship was great, and they sang some of the same songs like we would sing at home. Then, the leader of the group that's been here preached on James 1:26-27. He talked about how he usually doesn't associate himself with the word "religious," because that brings to mind rituals and things like that, which I've heard before. But then he redefined it and talked about the word religion meaning an outward expression of our faith, and in that case, sure, he'd call himself religious. He talked about how we need to be overflowing with Jesus Christ in order to share Him with others, and used some props with filling a cup with water until it overflowed. Then he put some oil into the cup to represent our sin, which rose to the top, and as he filled it with more water the sin was disappearing and the cup was overflowing with water (Christ). Pretty cool.
After church I went sailing! This was that team's last day here, so Lauren and I went sailing with them. Dan and Tori have a sailboat for the Jungle Barn and anyone working here for First Love can use it. It was fun!
We got back, checked out some fish and seahorses some kids had captured (typical), and then I changed and headed over to the house for movie time. Olivia, Carla, and Elizabeth had some kids over the other night to watch Hook, and then finished it today. They had a living room full! I stayed there to watch the Olympics for a while afterwards.
Okay, I'm getting eaten alive for the first time since I've been here, so time to head back upstairs! Tomorrow I
go to school to observe...and hopefully find out exactly what I'll be
teaching! haha.
Yay! Thanks for sharing!! That sailboat is so cool!!!
